Robert Franken: painter, glass engraver

Michael Brown: painter

Stephen Myhre: stone carver

Gillian Rainer: jeweller

Owen Mapp: jeweller

Hanne Eriksen Mapp: jeweller

Gerard McCabe: bronze sculpture

This group of seven experienced artists who derive their living from their art work, have combined their talents in this exhibition. They all have a long history of accomplishment and exposure in both New Zealand and overseas

The show is based on the painting ‘When Dreams Visit Dreams’ by Robert Franken.

Robert explores the fact that we all live in our own world yet continually mix with the outer world ‘Like drops of water fusing together to make a puddle’.

However he feels that it is quite unique that we communicate at all because most of our world is so private.

‘We walk along with others in life and share and yet we are alone. It is that aloneness that creates our individual interpretation of life.’

He likens this to artists working in isolation for much of the time and only occasionally sharing what they have dreamed of and spent so much private time creating.
